Herencia de un Pueblo

Inheriting a Legacy

Set in the vibrant Peruvian town of El Carmen, this film highlights the people, town, and dance legacy of African descendants in Peru.

Barrer

Let's sweep

The original choreography for "Barrer/let's sweep" was a duet inspired by Afro-Peruvian artist Victoria Santa Cruz's song "Hay que barrer" which talks about sweeping injustices and racism from the world. During the shelter in place order, dancers from Cunamacué dance company set-out to recreate the original choreography using their cell phones, and filming from home.
